Skinly AI

Know what's in your cosmetics before it touches your skin.

Skinly AI reads the ingredient list of a cream, shampoo or serum and tells you, in plain words, whether it is safe and whether it suits you. Scan the barcode or just take a photo of the pack.

The problem

Ingredient lists are long, in Latin and printed in tiny type. Most people buy skincare by the label on the front and find out about a bad ingredient only after a reaction.

What I built

One scan turns the list into a safety grade from A to F, flags risky and pore-clogging ingredients and gives a personal verdict based on your skin type, hair type and allergies. If the barcode isn't in any database, a photo of any side of the pack is enough.

01

Scan it, see what's inside

Point the camera at a barcode or take a photo of the packaging. The app finds the product, reads its ingredients and grades the formula from A to F.

An AI consultant for skincare

Ask what comedogenic means, how to build a morning routine or which ingredients to avoid with sensitive skin. Answers stay on the topic of cosmetics.

Care that fits your skin

Care that fits your skin

Skin type, hair type and allergies live in your profile, so every analysis ends with a verdict for you, not for an average person. Scan history and favourites are kept by category.

Everything else it does

Scanning

  • Barcode lookup in Open Beauty Facts and UPCitemdb
  • Photo of any side of the pack, not only the label
  • A whole shelf from one photo
  • Search by product name

Analysis

  • Safety grade from A to F
  • Risky and pore-clogging ingredients flagged
  • Side-by-side comparison of two products
  • Safer alternatives to a product

Every day

  • UV index for your city with an SPF hint
  • Share an analysis as a card
  • Scan history of up to 100 products
  • Cosmetics only: food and medicine are politely declined

Under the hood

Three sources before AI

A barcode goes through Open Beauty Facts, then UPCitemdb, then a beauty store catalog for the photo. The AI only grades what the databases return, so the product name isn't invented.

A photo is enough

If the ingredients are visible, the app reads them from the picture. If not, it recognises the product and pulls its ingredient list from the catalog.

Instant home screen

Popular products are cached for the day and drawn before the first frame, so the home screen opens without loading placeholders.

Strictly cosmetics

Every AI request is limited to cosmetics, and ingredients are always given by their INCI names in Latin, the way they are printed on the pack.
